When a veteran is in crisis, time is everything. Our transitional housing program provides immediate, short-term accommodations for veterans who need a safe place to stay while long-term housing options are being explored. There are no waitlists, no background checks, and no red tape — just a door that opens.
Transitional housing is the first, most urgent step in a veteran’s path out of crisis. It isn’t a shelter bed for one night, and it isn’t a lease for the next five years — it’s a safe, stable place to land while our team works alongside a veteran to figure out what comes next. For many of the veterans who come to us, this program is the difference between sleeping in a car and sleeping under a roof they can trust.
Once a veteran is safely housed, our Life Resource Navigation team steps in to help with everything from IDs and VA paperwork to employment and mental health support, so the time spent in transitional housing is never wasted time.
We built this program because veterans in crisis don’t have weeks to wait on an application to clear. When you’re looking for emergency housing for veterans in Tulsa, every day without a safe place to sleep raises the risk of something worse. That’s why Heroes Hope doesn’t put a veteran on a waitlist, run a background check, or ask them to prove sobriety before we open a door. If a veteran needs a veteran shelter in Tulsa tonight, our team’s first question isn’t “do you qualify” — it’s “how fast can we get you somewhere safe.”
Call, message, or have someone refer the veteran. Our team responds fast, day or night.
We find a short-term place to stay right away — no paperwork gate before shelter.
While housed, the veteran connects with Life Resource Navigation and Peer Mentorship.
Together we plan the next step, often into our Semi-Long-Term Housing program.
Heroes Hope is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and our transitional housing program serves veterans throughout Tulsa and the surrounding Green Country communities, including Broken Arrow, Owasso, Bixby, Jenks, and Sand Springs. Wherever a veteran calls home in the greater Tulsa area, our team works to get them into transitional housing as quickly as possible — because among the homeless shelters for veterans in Tulsa, distance should never be the reason someone goes without a bed.
Transitional housing is just the beginning of what Heroes Hope offers. Once a veteran is safe, we walk with them through our full range of programs — from Semi-Long-Term Housing to Life Resource Navigation and Peer Mentorship — so that stability lasts well past the first night. Take a look at all of our programs to see the full picture of how we help veterans move from crisis to a life they’re proud of, or see how you can get involved as a volunteer or community partner.
If you or a veteran you know needs a safe place to stay, don’t wait. Reach out to our team, refer a veteran in need, or help us keep doors open for the next veteran in crisis.
